Watch live as a SpaceX Super Heavy booster and Starship launch on its 8th test flight featuring another attempt to catch a returning booster with the chopsticks on launch pad tower, nicknamed ‘Mechazilla.’
Liftoff from SpaceX’s Starbase facility at Boca Chica Beach, in Texas, is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CST / 6:30 p.m. EST / 2330 UTC on Thursday, March 6.
The version 2 Starship vehicle, featuring multiple design changes, should achieve near-orbital velocity on a mission that will take it half way around the world. A test firing of a single Raptor vacuum engine is planned while the craft is in space and deployment of dummy Starlink satellites is planned. Starship will then reenter the atmosphere and make a gentle splashdown in the Indian Ocean. On the seventh flight test Starship failed due to engine compartment fire.
Our live coverage, hosted by Will Robinson-Smith, will begin two hours before launch and is brought to you in partnership with LabPadre.
