With nothing much better to do on a weekday early morning I’ve gotten rid of the racks of my neighborhood Aldi, getting 20 red wines that were under ₤ 5.
A little breakdown of Duty: the government bills alcohol obligation based upon exactly how strong the white wine is, a regular 12% wine is exhausted about ₤ 2.74 per container.
There’s VAT (20%) on top, which includes about 75p on a ₤ 5 container.
Add basic prices like the bottle, label, shipping, and cork (concerning ₤ 1) and you’re at around ₤ 4.50 prior to there’s any real a glass of wine in the bottle.
All these wines I’m drinking in theory have regarding 40p to expand the grapes, ferment the white wine, and really do all the work that you’re appreciating (or not) in your glass.
