We talk a whole lot regarding maturing white wine. Give it time. Do aged glass of wines really taste far better than when they were young?
We’ve heard your comments– when we taste existing launches, we can just evaluate what’s in the glass right currently. We can guess where a white wine may go, however we can’t prove it. Various Drop sent us six white wines they’ve aged in their own cellars to place it to the examination.
6 wines. All aged. All blind. No costs, no labels, no context. Simply the glass.
Below’s what happened:
→ A champagne that tasted like strawberries and cream– one of us offered $100 and wanted 12 bottles
→ A gewurztraminer that split the area– one taster liked it, one thought it was level, no one presumed the range
→ A red that shouted cardamom and seasoning but could not fairly complete the mid-palate
→ A a glass of wine one individual racked up at $25 for one bottle and one more scored at $80 for 12– genuinely opposite responses
→ A tannic, organized red that had one cup getting to for $150 and an additional walking away after one sip
→ A fortified that joined all 3 people for the very first time in the schedule
The price discloses were harsh. We lowballed almost every little thing. One a glass of wine retails at $250– our greatest deal was $100. An additional sits at $160– someone called it at $25. The space in between what aged red wine expenses and what it tastes like blind is really humbling.
