Welcome to the coverage of the third day of the third Ashes Test between Australia and England from the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Australia are in a commanding position at the start of the moving day of this Test match. Their tail wagged and a fifty from Mitchell Starc (54) helped them post 371 on the board. They started brilliantly with the ball.
Zak Crawley (9) Ben Duckett (29) and Ollie Pope (3) were sent packing in a quick succession before lunch on day two. Joe Root (19) got a start but failed to convert it into a big score. Harry Brook along with his skipper Stokes led recovery work and stitched a 56-run stand for the fifth wicket before the former was sent packing five short of his fifty.
Jamie Smith looked good for his 22 before a controversial decision ended his stay at the crease. Scott Boland dismissed Will Jacks (6) and Brydon Carse (0) in a space of six balls to dent England. Jofra Archer (30*) joined Stokes (45*) and both showed a decent resistance to take England to 213/8 at stumps. England still trail by 158 runs. Stokes and Archer have put 45 between them so far and will be looking to carry forward their good work day three. The hosts meanwhile will be looking to wrap up the English tail quickly bat long in the scorching Adelaide heat. England are yet to be bowled out though with both Stokes and Archer looking solid at the crease. Ben Stokes joined Brook at this stage in an important 56 run stand before Brook was sent back packing by Cameron Green before tea for 45 in 63 balls.
There were couple of controversial moments with Snicko as a close call against Jamie Smith went with the batter with Snicko determining the ball brushed the helmet rather than gloves Smith was dismissed a few balls later Snicko detecting a bottom edge that carried low to Carey with some possible gap between bat and ball.
Scott Boland (2/31) in the evening session bowled some wonderful overs removing Jacks (6) Brydon Carse (0) in 2 wicket maidens.
