Comment on Cuisinox 12 oz Wine Goblet by Andrea.
I’m just starting to enjoy different wines, too, so I can relate to this question. Simply put, red wine glasses have a wider opening and base, as most red wines need to breathe. This is the reason why you always feel robbed in a restaurant when they pour you a quarter glass of it. Ha! White wine doesn’t require breathing as it doesn’t have the same stuff in it (trying to keep this simple). So, a smaller, less “open” glass works just fine.
I prefer red wines, especially Chianti (Italian) and Shiraz (Australian). But, I do love a crisp, cold Pinot Grigio in the summer!
Good luck with choosing wines and glasses, and just remember: Use the glasses you want and don’t get wrapped up in all the “rules.” ? Take care!
