What Exactly Are “wine Spirits” Used In Recipes? I have a recipe for absinthe that specifies vodka or everclear as a base but indicates that a lower alcohol alternative is to use “wine spirits” instead. I don’t distill myself, so what is a commercial item that would fit that category? I looked at Brandy’s and the like but they are also 40% alcohol, just like most vodkas. Please let me know what I’m missing and many thanks.
View CommentHmmmm . . . Maybe it’s just plain old cooking wine?
View CommentWhat Do You Look For In A Wine And Spirits Merchant? What Information Would You Appreciate From That Merchant? I run a small Fine Wine and Spirits Shop. We have only been open for 7 months, looking to expand our services. Food sales are not an option due to licensing issues. We are attached to a hotel with full ammenties and there is a fully accredited sommelier on site. We have full access to all the hotel property.
View CommentI would look for a store that is well stocked and has a knowledgeable staff. I would like to have choice in what I buy (perhaps more expensive brands and cheaper brands) and have many different types of wines and spirits available to me. It is also important to have a staff that is knowledgeable about the products and can make a recommendation.
Once I went to a wine and spirits store and asked the sales clerk if she could direct me towards the sweet red wines (as I don’t know much about wine, and this was a gift for a friend). She simply listed off a bunch of names quickly that I couldn’t remember and when I asked for a recommendation, refused to give me one because I wasn’t sure exactly what I was looking for. Needless to say, I left without buying anything. A helpful staff will help you out very much.
Good luck with your shop!
View CommentWhat Drinks Cause A Less Severe Hangover? Beer, wine, spirits or mixes?
View CommentI am going to a party and thinking of buying a box of wine just cos of the high drink to price ratio, but I am anxious about its effects
Ok, ignoring the other silly answers on this board “Don’t drink at parties…”
Ok so, I think to avoid hangover you should stay away from harder liquor, the harder the drink the more ethonol it has in it, which is one of the key factors to feeling crap. Wine is ok, but I don’t think it is much of a party drink, and it has to be good quality to not make you feel sick while you are drinking it. I think beer would be the best way to go, but a lager (light coloured beer) and not a malt, because malts tend to leave you feeling worse too. I think though that if you are trying to get drunk then there is nothing much you are do about getting a hangover. If you are bringing the drinks just to get maybe a little tipsy a good lager should be enough for you, and is better for parties, because it allows you to be constantly sipping a drink without getting too drunk or stinking of wine of spirits. Don’t go with vodka like the other guy said, you wont taste much, and youll be gone way too quick.
View CommentBeer is the best party drink. Wines are for dinner parties, formal ones. And spirits are for old men who are depressed and want to get drunk fast.
Is There Any Wine And Spirits Supplier In Dubai? I wonder if anyone know any wine and spirits supplier in Dubai?
View CommentWe are a trading company in China. We are looking for Cognac and
Whiskey.
Very few
in order to purchase, posses or deal with alcohol in the United Arab Emirates you have to have a special pass that basically says you are not muslim.
if you are in China, there are likely much easier and cheaper places to get Cognac (france, where its from) and whiskey (UK, America, & Canada mostly)
