SULFITE REMOVAL Sulfites are artificial chemicals added to wine as a preservative and are no longer needed once the bottle is opened. Each filter purifies 1 Standard (750 Milliliter) bottle of wine. Üllo purifies wine using a food grade polymer to selectively remove sulfites, while allowing other compounds in wine to flow through unaffected. Through Selective Sulfite Capture, sulfites are filtered to reveal more of the wine’s natural flavors and aromas. TO AIR, OR NOT TO AIR? Because some wines prefer to be aerated, Üllo was designed to purify and aerate wine in the same pour. With a simple twist, you can opt to aerate your wine if desired. The purified wine flows Ullo in a visually appealing helical shape allowing the wine to breathe. BY THE GLASS, OR BY THE BOTTLE. The Ullo purifier works comfortably on top of a variety of wine glasses, as well as the beautifully crafted Ullo carafe and decanter. When serving, Ullo can be returned to its base designed to capture any unruly drips.   1. Expensive but reliable This is a great product for headache prone wine drinkers. Even some nice wines have way too many sulfites, so this was really helpful for my husband and I. That being said, you use 1 filter per every bottle of wine. This can get pricey and no matter who you buy extra filters from, it’s always over $30 for a 10 pack. There is an issue with the “sand” in the filters as well. It can create a residue film in your wine after filtering, but that can be avoided by rinsing the filter with a…

  2. Very good if the filter does not shift The only issue with the Ullo system is that one must place the filter in just the right spot and close the two pieces without the filter shifting. As the plastic bottom is quite slippery this can be hard to do. If the filter is not properly centered, too much of the wine finds the gap and does not actually get filtered. The speed of filtering is an indication of the quality of filtering. If the wine passes through quickly, it is not being filtered properly. However, assuming you place the…
