This was my first introduction t the “Quick From Scratch” series from Food & Wine, and it was more useful than two years’ subscription to the magazine. If you are a novice cook, it’s a great intro to basic Italian-American dishes, and offers fantastic advice in terms of technique, recipe substitutions, and the like. It is far beyond my skills but I enjoyed reading and learning a lot from the sections on cheese, wine, and a couple of other informative sections. For me this will be a good go to resource book more than a cookbook as I am a beginner cook. If you are not a beginner and are interested in literally starting a recipe from the beginning then this cookbook is for you. The pictures are great and maybe someday I will be ready to try one of the recipes but not…
